Your Role as a Class 2 Driver
Haulage and logistics is the 5th largest UK Employment sector, this means that Class 2 Drivers are in demand. You can work on short or long haul delivery runs on either a permanent or flexible contract basis. Class 2 Drivers are able to drive Category C rigid vehicles. If you like to work alone and enjoy travelling the country and want a job that is reliable then this is a great career choice! You will help keep businesses and the economy moving by playing a vital role in the movement of goods, which totals 148 Billion Tonnes each year in the UK (and that's only the goods transported by UK registered vehicles!).
Daily Duties of a Class 2 Driver
- Planning Delivery Routes
- Coordinating Deliveries with Customers
- Supervising the Loading of Goods
- Securing Goods to ensure they are safely loaded for transport
- Checking and amending routes when required
- Vehicle Inspections and adhering to Safety Regulations
- Filing Paperwork including logging your Driver hours
- Vehicle Maintenance logging
- Communicate issues with Dispatchers/Employer
- Interact with Customers
Skills and Experience of a Class 2 Driver
- Good driving skills and knowledge of current Road Transport Regulations.
- Awareness of Health and Safety issues
- Mechanical and vehicle knowledge
- Polite, courteous, respectful and helpful.
- Self-motivation and ability to work independently
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to complete Paperwork and often use hand-held electronic devices to log your deliveries.

HGV Class 2 Driver
£12 - 14 Per Hour
Swanstaff Recruitment are looking for more HGV Class 2 Drivers for our client based in Swanley. The job will involve the delivery of products to businesses in the South East area that could include London. There are normally between 10-15 deliveries a day and they could cover quite a wide area so you may clock up a few miles driving every day! Most deliveries are unloaded by forklift but there might be some manual unloading as well. Start time is usually 6am and depending on the delivery area you could be out until 18.00pm. We guarantee 8 hours minimum and overtime is paid after 8 hours. Job Title: HGV Class 2 Driver Location: Swanley Rate of Pay: £12.00-14.00 per hour, plus holiday pay. We don’t use umbrella companies so you won’t get any unexpected tax bills! The Role of a Class 2 Driver: Complete daily vehicle checks and defect sheets and ensure the vehicle is road worthy To ensure that loads are safe and legally compliant Check and correctly use any paperwork in relation to the loads carried Ensure that all legislation regarding tachograph regulations and the working time directives are met Communicate any customer issues or complaints promptly to the line manager At least 6 months years driving experience.
