The role of a Mental Health Nurse
Mental health nurses provide support and nursing care to people with a range of mental health issues, you are responsible for planning their care and rehabilitation. You will work with a wider team of healthcare professionals including Doctors, Psychiatrists and Therapists to ensure a personal care plan is in place for your patients. You may work in a range of settings including hospitals, prisons, specialist units, day care centres or people's homes.
The duties of a Mental Health Nurse
- building relationships with, reassuring, listening and talking to patients
- care requirement assessments and planning
- combating stigma and helping patients and their families deal with it
- administering medication
- reviewing care plans and monitoring progress
- giving advice and arranging support for patients, relatives and carers
- liaising with doctors, social workers and other professionals
- writing and updating patient records
- encouraging patients to take part in therapeutic activities such as art and role play
Skills and experience required to be a Mental Health Nurse

- Good understanding of the theories of mental health and illness

Support Worker / Community Assisted Discharge
£8.50 - 9.25 Per Hour
We are currently recruiting 2 experienced Support Workers for two separate roles all for our well known and well established client based in Chelmsford. This is a full time opportunity, 35hrs per week. Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 17:00 (Shift times may vary) potential weekend work available for the right candidates, weekend work will be enhanced rates. You will be using a company car and NOT your own car. This is an on-going full time temp role lasting 3 months however, could become permanent for the right person. You will be given full training on induction, a full job spec and a uniform. Job title: Support Worker/Community Assisted Discharge Location: Chelmsford, Essex Rate of pay: £8.50 - £9.25 per hour Support Worker - Assisted Discharge From Hospital: As an assisted discharge support worker you will be required to pick service users up from hospital, ensuring you also pick up any equipment and medications they need to take home with them. Upon arriving at their home you will need to make sure all equipment is set up, ensure they have food and drink and are able to access this, ensure medication is at hand and they understand the instruction, to ring any family they may have to notify them that they are home etc. Before leaving you will expected to carry out a risk assessment to ensure the safety of the service user and pass this on to the appropriate person to make a care plan for future visits. Home Support Worker Mid Essex: This role is a follow on from the above, you will be the one to go on regular visits for all service users that have been discharged from hospital. While there you will be carrying out on-going risk assessments and implement any changes to the care plans. You will be there for emotional support and to ensure they have everything they need such as fluids, food, medication equipment etc. No personal care involved you will be there to re-enable them and rehabilitate back to health for the duration of 6 to 8 weeks so they can gain the ability and the confidence to be able to be self-sufficient. Job Requirements: At least 6 months UK based Healthcare experience. Full UK valid driving license needed. Ability to be confident and use your own initiative and manage your own workload.
