Quantity Surveyor - Essex - £40,000 + Package

We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Quantity Surveyor to work with a reputable construction contractor based in Essex. My client is a Civils and Construction company delivering Land Drainage & Earthworks, bridges & structures, Roadway Construction, landscaping, utilities etc..

We are looking to attract a Quantity Surveyor with broad commercial skills; whilst at the same time understanding the commercial drivers, risk profiles and key success factors for Clients procuring groundworks, construction and land drainage works.

Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 per annum

Job Description:

We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Quantity Surveyor to work with a reputable construction contractor based in Essex. My client is a Civils and Construction company delivering Land Drainage & Earthworks, bridges & structures, Roadway Construction, landscaping, utilities etc..

We are looking to attract a Quantity Surveyor with broad commercial skills; whilst at the same time understanding the commercial drivers, risk profiles and key success factors for Clients procuring groundworks, construction and land drainage works.

Quantity Surveyor Duties:

  • The role will initially be predominantly focused around the delivery of the capital foot-way programme however this may be subject to change to suit business needs and staff development.
  • Ensuring commercial processes are in place.
  • Commercial administration and management of live projects or projects at pre-implementation phase.
  • Assisting and liaising with the buyers on materials procurement.
  • Measure, progress, assist in submitting valuations, final accounts.
  • Perform risk, value management and cost control.
  • Identify, analyse and develop responses to commercial risks.
  • Prepare and analyse costings for tenders.
  • Provide advice on contractual claims.
  • Value completed work and arrange payments.
  • Analyse outcomes and write detailed progress reports.
  • Liaise with the client and other construction professionals, such as site managers, project managers and site engineers.
  • Attend client and company progress meetings.
  • Managing and valuing variations; preparing early warning notifications for any changes in the works to manage the client’s expectations.


Quantity Surveyor Requirements:

  • Being capable of self-time management.
  • An understanding of Civil Engineering and Highways measurement principles.
  • A basic understanding of all main forms of NEC, ICE and JCT contracts.
  • An understanding of general IT systems (Microsoft Office suite, Excel.
  • The ideal candidate should have knowledge and / or experience of working within the construction industry. Experience directly related to such a role would be expected.
