Your Role in the Warehouse
Roles within a warehouse vary and could include Product/Material Handler, Shipping and Receiving assistant, Warehouse Clerk, Forklift Driver, Loader, General Labourer, Stock Controller or Shipping Specialist. You can progress your career within the warehouse to Team Leader, Health and Safety Executive, Operations Manager, Logistics Manager or Warehouse Manager roles.
Daily Duties in the Warehouse
- Prepare and complete orders
- Process warehouse stock products
- Perform inventory controls and quality checks
- Keep a clean and safe working environment
- Abide by Manual Handling and Health and Safety guidelines/regulation
- Complete diary logs
- Report any discrepancies
- Communicate and cooperate with supervisors and coworkers
- Operate and maintain warehouse equipment
- Assist with vehicle loading
- Supervising staff and Activities within the Warehouse
- Assigning timesheets and Rotas to warehouse staff
- Training new employees
- Overseeing and being responsible for Health and Safety standards
- Management of stock and ensuring space for incoming goods
- Reviewing and adapting warehouse operations where required

Skills and Experience for Warehouse Jobs
For many of our temporary roles at Swanstaff we do ask that you have some warehouse experience, as you may work at multiple clients and will need to go in with some knowledge, however, we do also have roles for those with no experience, these roles can be a great first-step onto the career ladder and you can progress within a company if you have the drive to do so. Job title:Warehouse Assistant Location:Colchester Rate of pay:£8.72p.h - £10.00 dependant on time of shift The role of a Warehouse Assistant: Moving goods around the warehouse Wrapping goods ready for dispatch Picking from various areas of the warehouse Logging stock on a hand held PDA system Maintaining a clean and safe working environment Liaising and reporting back to the warehouse manager Flexibility and willing to adapt to role as required Standard working hours (weekly Rotating): Monday – Friday 6-2pm or 2pm to 10pm Saturday – Sunday Various shift times TBA Due to this role being based in a warehouse, you will need your own pair of steel toe-capped boots. Flexi Forklift Driver
£9 - 10 Per Hour
***EXCITING OPPORTUNITY*** Swanstaff are looking for experienced Flexi forklift drivers to join a prestigious client based in Colchester. Job title:Flexi Forklift Driver Location:Colchester, Essex Rate of pay:£9.00 - £10.00 per hour The role of a Flexi Forklift Driver: The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1 years’ experience working on a Bendi/Flexi forklift truck and hold an up to date certificate. This is a temp to perm opportunity meaning that should you be successful within a 12 week period, you will be offered a full time permanent contract with our client. Daily duties include: Loading goods onto lorries / vans. Liaising with the warehouse manager and quick to carry out instruction. Loading Pallets and unloading pallets. Manual handling goods. Printing appropriate stickers for palletised stock to ensure it is delivered to the correct location.
